History:
Many Christians observe The Epiphany on January 6th. This day represents the day that the Three Wise Men met the baby Jesus. St. Augustine magnified the story until the wise men became known as "Kings." This day has now become "King's Day" with the King cake serving as a symbol of The Epiphany or Little Christmas. It is with this beginning, that people now search for the baby Jesus in their piece of the King Cake.

King Cakes:
The Oval Shape-symbolizes the unity of Christmas.
The Green Sugar-symbolizes Faith.
The Gold Sugar-symbolizes Power.
The Purple Sugar-symbolizes Justice.
The Baby-symbolizes the baby Jesus and is also a token of good luck.
Red Sugar- can also be sprinkled on the King Cake  to symbolize the life of Jesus.

Tradition:
In each King cake is a small plastic baby. The lucky finder of this baby is then required to furnish a King Cake for the next party. These seasonal parties start on January 6th. and last until the day before lent or "Fat Tuesday."

Below is an example of our King Cake. In order to guarantee that you will have one for your party, please call/e-mail us so that we can reserve some for you. They can also be used as a breakfast meal. Place in the oven at a low temperature and heat until warm or heat in a microwave.
